Phylum- Arthropoda : General Charcters and classification

1.    Bilaterally symmetrical animal.
2.    Body is divisible in to many segments.
3.    Body is covered with chitinous covering  called chitin
4.    Presence of jointed appendages.
5.    They have compound or simple eyes.
6.      Presence of pair of antennae.
7.    They are omnivorous in feeding habit.
8.    Found in cosmopolitan  area.
9.    Presence of two pairs of wing in some organism.
10.     Sexes are separate.
11.    Sexual dimorphism is occurs.
12.    Fertilization is internal or external.
13.    Development is direct or indirect.
14.    Digestive system is complete and well developed.
15.    Respiratory organs are spiracle, gills  or book lung.
16.    Excretory organs are nephridia.
17.    Some organisms are ectoparasite.
